Field Day is an essential  and memourious annual event in the ThunderRidge High School Community.

For the freshmen, this is their first year to directly participate in the action. What are the freshmen's expectations and attitudes towards this year’s Homecoming Week?

This year, the freshmen Homecoming Week theme is New Orleans; the overall theme for all classes was United States Cities. New Orleans, also known as the “birthplace of jazz,” is a city in Southern Louisiana located on the Mississippi River. New Orleans is known for its diverse French, African and American Cultures. These cultures mix together to make New Orleans a great city of many experiences. A few of ThunderRidge’s freshmen were surveyed on their viewpoints of  this year’s freshmen’s theme of New Orleans.

“ I believe it is super cool how they are doing different places in the U.S. because we get to see different traditions and cultures from around the country. I like how these themes are all different, but because they are cities in the United States it symbolizes the unity between the states in our country as well as the unity in our school.” remarks freshman Lilyia Tetreault.

Field Day is a fun-filled day, full of action and school unity. Students partake in events with their  peers that promotes unity throughout the school. Some of these events include three legged races, obstacle course, tug-a-war and more.

Are the freshman excited for this year's Field Day?

“I'm most excited to see who wins,” says Sierra Martinez, a freshman who is part of The Growl’s staff. She sounded more excited for the results than the actual events. Other freshmen shared similar viewpoints to her.

The Homecoming dance is a fun way to hangout with friends in a safe but fun environment. Many freshmen are eager to attend this year's dance, and part of that may be contributed to the fact that this year's dance has gotten a great improvement

This year, the Homecoming dance is being held at Bowlero. Bowlero is a bowling alley and arcade in Lone Tree, Colorado. It is known for being one of the biggest bowling corporations in North America.

For most freshmen, this is their first high school dance. Many are excitedly awaiting this fun event. What are they expecting? When asked about the Homecoming dance, Hobbin Ware a ThunderRidge freshman’s eyes lit up with excitement as he told me is thought. “ Yes, I am going… it's a unique place to have it because there will be so many fun activities to do like bowling, lasertag, and other fun things.”

Like many other ThunderRidge students, the freshmen are excited for this years Homecoming week.
