ThunderRidge High School has always had their Homecoming here at ThunderRidge High School in the big gym, but now it has been changed. ThunderRidge had many fun activities, but for the first time in TR history the dance will not be held at the school. Instead it will be held at Bowlero with many other different activities.
When homecoming comes around, everyone starts getting super excited for both Field day and Homecoming. Guys and girls start asking each other to be their dates, and girls start shopping for the best dress.
ThunderRidge normally has homecoming at the school, but this school year has a little change. Homecoming for the 2019-2020 school year is now being held at Bowlero instead of ThunderRidge and will hopefully stay in this location for another couple years.

“The location change was decided last year by the entire student government team because we wanted something new and exciting for the homecoming event,” says student dance committee Abby Inman.
This seems that the dance will continue to be at different locations for future homecomings, this gives students a fun place to do different activities instead of just dancing. Student government wanted to give ThunderRidge a new off campus attraction for more of the upperclassmen to attend.
“Bowlero offered more activities than other places we inquired about, the goal was to make homecoming more of an event rather than a dance, this venue allowed it to be more than just a dance with many different activities” explains Inman.
The new location will make things a lot more fun for students since there is not all dancing, since there are more activities. “Bowlero was a great company to work with and we decided that it would be most beneficial to work with” Inman says.
The location wasn’t changed because of the new flooring that was just placed before the school year started, it was a small rumor between people but getting clarified by student gov the rumor wasn’t true. This change happened because not a lot of upperclassmen were attending the dance, so by changing up the location and venue a little more will hopefully bring more Juniors and Seniors to the dance.
Our Principal also agrees with this change, “Mrs. Ballow has been really supportive of any ideas/recommendations that student government has come up with. She trusts us to make decisions about what we believe the student body would want and therefore she supported the decision to have the homecoming dance off campus” explains Inmen.
This will be a new tradition for ThunderRidge by having the homecoming dance off campus with many more activities to do instead of dancing the whole time. “We plan on continuing to have the homecoming event off campus. As a student government program we believe that having the dance off campus will make it a more memorable and special year. Next year is going to be even better” says Inman. Hopefully more students will participate in homecoming the next couple years based off the new location.
